JOY VOELKER
Joy Voelker is a dancer and educator with training from many of New York City’s elite institutions.
Joy earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Purchase College Conservatory of Dance in addition to training at the Juilliard School, the Joffrey Ballet, the Paul Taylor Dance Program, and apprenticed with Anouk van Dijk dance company in Amsterdam among others.
Joy has performed professionally with many dance companies including CorbinDances, 360º Dance Company, Lane & Co, Headless Horse, Artichoke Dance Company, children’s programs at the Metropolitan Playhouse and as the guest artist for Iowa State Center’s The Nutcracker for six seasons.
In parallel to her performance career, Joy developed a teaching career in New York and as a guest teacher around the United States. She spent six years as a faculty member at the Mark Morris Dance Center teaching ages two to adult. Joy founded Mark Morris Dance Center’s Parent/Toddler program, growing the program from zero to seventeen classes per week in four years.
After relocating to Madrid Joy founded Joy of Dance combining her existing curriculum with a focus on English as a second language for Madrid’s bilingual students.
In addition to early childhood dance classes, Joy specializes in training for pre-professional or conservatory track students offering guest teaching and master classes around the US and Europe.
Joy of Dance offers early childhood teacher training workshops to spread her knowledge and passion about the different needs for this special age group.
